He has never appreciated them or spared them any thought as they died, one by one. I hate that in his last game he mentions the three royal guards and remarks that they "were too good" for him, talking as if he really actually appreciated them, which is bullshit because immediately after that he goes right back into his game of chess and then it's like "royal what now? Who? Oh, it's my move again". The three royal guards looked as if they faced a certain amount of pain before they died, but for Meruem, it was just like he was falling asleep.and I dont think that was fair.not to the humans who died before him and not to his three loyal royal guards. Hundreds of people died, were killed and consumed because of the chimera ants-many of those humans were terrified and died horrifically, And King Meruem gets to die peacefully while playing one last game of chess with that idiot Komugi who opts to stay with him and subsequently dies when the poison spreds to her.
I mean, poisoning? Isnt that how bad guys-villains do it? You dont ever really expect the good guys, the heros to resort to poisining to win.I knew the stakes were as high as the enslavement of all humanity, but felt cheap and rotten, and it was a plan that cost Netero his life, and I really like Netero and now he's gone too.this ending sucked. Instead he succumbs to the poison while he's alone, devastated, and probably feeling abandoned since the king new he was dying and all he wanted to do was go find his chess partner, and leaving a desperate Shaiapouf all alone to drag himself through the dirt before he finally losing his last breath. I knew the king and the three royal guards were gonna die, but i didn't think it was gonna be exactly like how it was.For some reason I thought Shaiapouf was gonna succumb to the infectious poison but i thought it was gonna happen in the middle of a big fight, leaving the good guys with a cheap win and having a sense that they knew they didn't really win. The ending of the Chimera Ant Arc was.disappointing. Spoilers, complaints, theories, disappointments, thoguhts, and so on.
